Tips for buying a good bra

Comfortable and supportive bras are essential not only during pregnancy and feeding but a must all the time. Here are some tips on choosing a good bra by my favourite family GP:

  • Choose the correct size for you. If you never tried measuring yourself, this link would be helpful.
  • Bras with large bands under the busts and sports-like straps are best as they provide better support than others.
  • Ensure that there's a good partition between the cups, you don't want any discomfort having your "ladies" together.
  • Avoid wired bras. They are usually stylish but they do no good to your breasts and they are less comfortable than non-wired ones. There are lovely non-wired bras around, you might need to take some time searching. Check my previous entry for some help with shopping.
Additional tips from me. Buy bras of good, washable, long-lasting and comfortable material as you're going to wear it next to your skin all day. Remember if you're breastfeeding there might be spilt milk on them. And as you progress in pregnancy, in the 3rd trimester preferably, I suggest that you buy only maternity support or nursing bras that you can wear later on after delivering your baby. Especially if you're on a tight budget. You might need one size up if you're buying them before the period though.

Any other tips up your sleeves? Share it with other mommies here please :)
